Thomas Joins HBO Project

Thomas Dekker has joined the cast of HBO Films’ “Cinema Verite,” a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the groundbreaking 1970s documentary “An American Family.”

Television

Production begins this summer in Los Angeles with Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini and Diane Lane also starring.

When “American Family” premiered on PBS in 1973, it was the first show to document a real-life family dealing with such problems as divorce and sexual identity. Robbins and Lane will play parents Bill and Pat Loud. Dekker will portray their son Lance, who became the center of scrutiny when he came out as a gay man on the show. Gandolfini will portray documentary producer Craig Gilbert.

Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini are directing.

Dekker most recently starred on the big screen in “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” He played John Connor on the Fox series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

Thomas Dekker in ‘Footloose’?

Paramount Studio’s remake of the 1984 monster dance flick Footloose is back on track again after Chace Crawford’s defection, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

The leading candidate to fill Kevin Baker’s shoes? Heroes star Thomas Dekker, 22, who recently enhanced his remake cred with a recycled version of A Nightmare on Elm Street that scored well at the box office. Dekker also played John Connor in Fox Television’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and received good notices for his role in the well-received Cannes indie Kaboom.

Footloose tells the story of Ren McCormack who moves from the big city to a small town where rock ‘n’ roll is banned. Ren proceeds to set the town moving and shaking when he takes over planning for the senior prom.

High School Musical star Zac Efron was originally set to reprise the Bacon role, but dropped out of the project after deciding to move his career in less musical, more dramatic directions. The other big change is occurring behind the camera with Craig Brewer replacing Kenny Ortega as director.

Thomas wants ‘Kaboom’ to have cult status
Filed Under: Articles

Thomas Dekker has said that he would love his new film Kaboom to be a future cult classic.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the movie’s potential for cult status, Dekker commented: “That’s what I always thought it should be and what I’ve always dreamed of being in. Cult movies for the crazies. I think the film feels like it’s not for everybody… but if you like it, you’ll love it.”

He continued: “People are like, ‘describe it one word’. I’m like, the title, it’s just Kaboom!”

The 22-year-old also admitted that some of the cast had reservations about filming sex scenes.

“We all had different feeling about it,” he said. “Certain actors in the movie had done it before and others hadn’t. I was fine with it. Gregg is very respectful and very careful about how it’s shot and it’s all closed set. As far as the nudity went, some of the sex scenes were intimidating because they are. But I was very comfortable!”

DS has a video with Thomas on their site where he talks more about Kaboom and his new movie sick. Make sure to check it out

Thomas on Nightmare

Thomas Dekker is quickly becoming an expert on reinventing classic characters from our childhood. He played teenage John Connor in, I’ll just say it, the best non-James Cameron Terminator sequel, TV’s The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Now he’s one of the Elm Street children in the new Nightmare on Elm Street.

Englund on A Nightmare on Elm Street

“I think this movie is made for the generation that the original films aren’t working for anymore,” Dekker said. “That’s the bottom line. The people who loved this film and hold the original film, especially at the beginning of the series, they hold it in their hearts with a lot of love, regardless of the camp, or the comedy, or the humor. But the kids of today watch the original and find it funny, it doesn’t scare them. And that’s a shame because the idea is still terrifying and the idea, maybe, exceeds the execution that this generation is used to. So I think this remake’s purpose is to reinvent this idea, and still terrify a generation that the original isn’t working for anymore.”

Jackie Earle Haley terrorizes the new batch of kids as Freddy Krueger. “I just felt bad for him,” Dekker said. “I think I was too busy feeling sorry for him being in that prosthetic and trying to shoot as fast as we could so he could get out of it. Although when he was chasing me or screaming at me, it was kind of [scary]. Then halfway through, we were all kind of just, ‘Whatever…’”

With a hint at his own death scene, Dekker revealed Haley’s behind the scenes care for the kids he was terrorizing. “The worst thing was, he’d be in the make-up and you’d be so nice. I’m hanging upside down, and he’s supposed to be menacing and he’d be like, ‘This kid’s been up there too long, get him down!’ Freddy’s a nice guy.”

Slaughter’s Road renamed to Wolves

The writer behind Watchmen and X-Men is getting behind the camera for Wolves.

When we last heard about David Hayter’s project, it was known as Slaughter’s Road and had both Thomas Dekker and Ray Stevenson attached to star. Since then, things have changed. The film found a new home at TF1 and Winchester and sports the aforementioned new title. Hayter is expected to begin rolling this July. It’s unknown if Dekker and Stevenson are still involved.

Hayter tells Deadline Wolves is like “Twilight with a bit more bite to it, and without abstinence.” He’ll produce through his Dark Hero banner.

Another little nugget within Deadline’s piece about Wolves…Hayter is also looking to resurrect the Deadworld zombie comic book property and finally give it life on the big screen.

I certainly hope Thomas is still involved, would love to see him in more movies.

Arraignment.

Thomas Dekker, known for his role portraying John Connor in the Terminator TV show, is scheduled for arraignment on two misdemeanor DUI charges.

He was arrested last month in North Hollywood under suspicion of drunken driving. He was pulled over on Burbank Boulevard on Oct. 14 after failing to make a turn onto the Hollywood Freeway, striking a bicyclist in a crosswalk. The cyclist was just 17, but he escaped with minor injuries. The actor is now 21-years-old, and he made the $100,000 bail to be released from jail the following day.

Dekker was officially charged with one count each of California’s DUI laws: driving under the influence, and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of .08% or above.

Arrested for DUI

Even Thomas makes mistakes and he’s admitted it time and time again. This time, he was driving drunk and hit a bicyclist. He’s currently being held on suspicion of felony DUI and causing bodily harm. His bail is set at $100,000.

More is developing in the story and I’ll keep you updated. This just goes to prove he’s human though. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim as well as Thomas.
